Huawei has officially announced the Huawei Mate 8 in China but the device will be be given another unveiling at the CES 2016 next year. According to the press release, the device is currently available in China and it also mentions availability in the markets will be by Q1 2016.

The Huawei Mate 8 is the company’s most advanced flagship smartphone and is given the honour to be the first to be powered by the in-house made Kirin 950 SoC with octa-core CPU with Mali T880MP4 GPU and accompanied by an i5 intelligent co-processor which ‘supports speech recognition, low-power consumption MP3, all the functions of a sensor hub, fused location provider (FLP) navigation, and reduces location-based power consumption’.
The smartphone sports 6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved diamond cut glass and 83% screen-to-body ratio. It is made from aerospace-grade aluminium body material and is available in Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Moonlight Silver and Space Gray colours.
The Huawei Mate 8 is available in three configurations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 4GB RAM + 128GB storage which all cost CNY 2999 (USD 470), CNY 3699 (USD 590) and CNY 4399 (USD 700). It is unclear if the device has a microSD card slot but has Dual Nano SIM slots with the second likely to act as the microSD card slot.
On the back sits the latest Sony IMX298 16MP camera sensor with dual LED flash; the fingerprint sensor can also be found at the back and on the front is the 8MP camera with special algorithms for selfies. An ample 4000mAh Li-Polymer battery which support quick charging backs the device, it provides up to 1.6 days of heavy usage and 2.36 days of average usage.
The Huawei Mate 8 runs on Huawei Emotion 4.0 UI based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with features such as voice controls, a power-saving firewall, a defragmenter and eRecovery also touted.
