HUAWEI has quietly unveiled the 4G version of its P40 flagship smartphone. The Huawei P40 4G has most of the specs of its 5G older sibling, however, the Kirin 990 5G SoC has been swapped out for the non-5G version and the device comes pre-loaded with EMUI 10.1 (based on Android 10) as well as Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).
The Huawei P40 4G is built around a 6.1-inch Full HD+ OLED display with ultra-narrow borders, 60Hz screen refresh rate, in-display fingerprint scanner and dual punch-hole notch with 32MP (f/2.0) selfie plus IR ToF module for face unlock. It features a USB Type-C port (audio and charging), Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, IP53 splash resistance rating, NM card support and depends on a 3,800mAh battery with 22.5W (10V/2.25A) SuperCharge fast charging.
Main photography is handled by a 50MP (f/1.9, OIS) RYYB Ultra vision camera paired with 16MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide angle and 8MP (f/2.4, OIS, 3x optical zoom) telephoto sensors. The camera set-up has a dual-tone LED flash and is certified by LEICA. The P40 4G (8GB RAM + 128GB storage) is on sale in China for CNY 3,998 (~ US$ 620/ AU$ 801). Dark Blue and Frost Silver are the available colours.
