Several sources are reporting that Huawei is ready to announce the Huawei P9 smartphone at the CES 2016 event coming up in a few days time in Las Vegas. The P9 is expected to succeed the Huawei P8 which also has a Lite and Max variant – the P8 Lite and P8 Max
According to Chinese analyst, Pan Jiutang which listed some of the key Huawei P9 specs on Weibo. He expects the device to pack up to 6GB of RAM and also a Dual camera setup on the back which will use a special kind of algorithm the company has been developing for a while.
Previous leaks confirm a Dual camera setup on the back and the main camera is a said to be a 13MP snapper with the IMX2X6 camera sensor from Sony. The device should sport a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display and the octa-core Kirin 950 SoC will be under the hood with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU.
There two other models of the P9 – the Huawei P9 Lite and P9 Max are expected to have 5-inch display + 4GB RAM and 6.8-inch display + 6GB RAM respectively but other details are still a mystery. None of the above is really confirmed by any official source but the analyst seems to have a good record of leaks.
Huawei definitely has a product to launch but considering the fact that the Huawei P8 family launched around April, the P9 should also come at that time but we could be wrong. We’ll be on the lookout for more info at the CES.
