Huawei has finally joined Google’s Android Go train with the announcement of its first Android Oreo (Go Edition) smartphone, the Huawei Y3 (2018). The entry-level device will go on sale in Africa starting with Ghana and is expected to be priced within the range of the Nokia 1 i.e between US$ 85 – 100.
The Huawei Y3 (2018) has a normal 5-inch IPS display with 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA) resolution, dual SIM slots, loud speaker and comes in three colour options: Gold, Grey and White. It measures 145.1 x 73.7 x 9.45 mm, weighs up to 180 grams and depends on a 2,280mAh battery (likely removable).
In the camera department, the smartphone features a rear 8MP AF camera with rear LED flash and f/2.0 aperture; alongside a front facing 2MP camera for selfies. Connectivity and port options available on the device include: Wi-Fi (2.4GHz), Wi-Fi Hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, USB 2.0, and 4G LTE.
On the inside, the Huawei Y3 (2018) comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo (Go Edition) along with all the necesary Go Edition apps and relies on a quad-core MediaTek MT6737M processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB built-in storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD).
