India’s leading device maker, iBall has teamed up with China’s Jide Technologies to launch the iBall Slide Brace-X1 4G with Remix OS. The voice calling tablet is the first in the Indian market pre-installed with the productivity focused OS, which offers a fully functional Android experience on desktop.
Based on a forked version of Android, Remix OS looks more like Windows and Chrome OS, and comes complete with a start menu, taskbar, file manager, multi window multi-tasking, resizeable and movable windows, and notification area. Also, installed apps become navigable via mouse and keyboard.
Still priced at Rs. 17499 (~US$ 273), the iBall Slide Brace-X1 4G retains the same specs as the original version which launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. It has a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800 pixels) multi-touch IPS display, 4G support with voice calling (via hands-free) and backed by a 7800mAh battery.
On the inside, the slate is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-Core ARM Cortex A53 processor and Mali-T720 GPU paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage (expandable up to 64GB). The rest of the specs include – a rear facing 8MP AF camera with LED Flash, front 5MP Selfie camera, dual chambered speakers and USB OTG.
iBall also promised future Slide Tablet PCs with Remix OS on-board.
