Following the official announcement, several retail outlets (online and offline) have began selling the Infinix Hot 3 smartphone for a price starting at N26,000. The successor to the 5-inch Infinix Hot 2 doesn’t belong to the Android One family but comes with more firepower.
Looking at the specs and features, much doesn’t separate the Infinix Hot 3 and the Hot 2 but we will be looking at them in details below:
Infinix Hot 3 vs Infinix Hot 2: What Has Changed?
Design and Display
The Infinix Hot 3 sports a 5.5-inch display and a more slimmer body build with slightly curved edges compared to the 5-inch display on the Infinix Hot 2 and its square-ish edges. Both however have a 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) screen resolution.
Processing Power, Memory and Storage
There is nothing to separate both devices here. They both sport a quad-core Mediatek processor clocked at 1.3GHz with either 1GB or 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in expandable storage space.
Operating System
The Infinix Hot 3 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box with the company’s custom UI – Infinix XUI on-top. The Infinix Hot 2 also runs Android Lollipop OS but boots the stock version and is a member of the Android One family.
Camera
Both the Infinix Hot 3 and Infinix Hot 2 sports a rear facing 8-megapixels camera with AutoFocus and LED flash; and a front facing 2-megapixels camera for selfies and video chats.
Battery
The Infinix Hot 3 excels in this aspect with a 3000mAh battery which is expected to last up to a day or more of usage while the Infinix Hot 2 makes do with a 2200mAh battery.
Verdict
Comparing the Hot 3 and Hot 2; changes come in the aspect of the body build, display and battery capacity. The Infinix Hot 3 is a worthy upgrade with a more slimmer body, bigger display and increased battery capacity while the Hot 2 has the advantage of enjoying updates from Google directly being a member of the Android One family.
Infinix sold me on the Hot 3 with the bigger display and the camera.
