A lot of us know Nokia is a Finland company but not many of us know the company’s deep history starting from the roots. This infographic courtesy of MobileMadhouse details the Rise and Demise of Nokia.
Nokia isn’t really dead but you can as well believe it is not the dominant force it used to be around a decade ago or less. But with the Release of the Nokia N1 tablet which runs Android Lollipop seems to give the tech community as a whole that light at the end of the tunnel feeling.
Nokia began its sojourns from Finnish rubber works Ltd and Finnish Cable works Ltd in 1865, the company started off as a paper mill and is named after the town ‘Nokia’. The first mobile phone from the company debuted in the 1980s and subsequently hit the peak in 2000s where it has the devices in the market – the hugely successful Nokia 3310, Nokia 3650 (first from Nokia with Video Recording), the Nokia N Series, Nokia 6650 (world’s first 3G phone), Nokia 7710 (first touchscreen device from Nokia) and not forgetting the Symbian OS.
Thanks but no thanks to the influx of iPhones and Android smartphones in the market and Nokia going the Lumia way then the decline came steeply. Like I mentioned earlier, the release of the Nokia N1 (sold out 20,000 units in 4minutes of starting sales) could start getting the company back to its glory days.
