Both the Innjoo 2 and Tecno Phantom 5 are the two latest high-end device from Innjoo and Tecno Mobiles respectively. To outsell one another in the market, each company has employed different tactics to endear their current and prospective customers to their new offerings.
We will be briefly looking at how the Innjoo 2 which was announced in November sizes-up against the Tecno Phantom 5 which came earlier (in September precisely) in terms of specifications and features.
Innjoo 2 vs Tecno Phantom 5: Specs Comparisons and Differences
Design and Display
Most companies are moving away from Polycarbonate (or Plastic) bodies to metals or a mixture of both for smartphones; the Innjoo 2 and Tecno Phantom 5 are no different. Both devices have metal in their chassis, while the former is available in Gold and White colours; the latter is available in Luxury Champagne and Elegant Space Grey colours.
The Innjoo 2 sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display with a pixel density of 294ppi while the Tecno Phantom 5 does far better with a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS display and a pixel density of around 401ppi.
Processor, Memory and Storage
Both devices are powered by an octa-core Mediatek MT6753 64-bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz and ARM Mali-T720 GPU for graphics.
The Innjoo 2 has 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in storage space and a Hybrid SIM slot which sees the second SIM slot double as the microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB cards. The Phantom 5 again does better with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space but only supports up to 64GB cards via a separate microSD card.
Camera
The Innjoo 2 excels here with a front facing 13MP camera with 85-degrees wide angle lens and fill flashlight which will endear itself to camera focused buyers. The main camera is also a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens and Dual LED flash.
The Tecno Phantom 5 has a rear facing 13MP main camera with AutoFocus and Dual LED flash but the front camera is a 8MP snapper for selfies and video chats.
Network and Connectivity
All standard connectivity options are available – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, micro USB port and GPS. The Tecno Phantom 5 supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE networks while the Innjoo 2 supports 2G and 3G networks (the Innjoo 2 LTE variant which supports 4G LTE is not available in Nigeria).
Operating System
Both devices run Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, any less would have been disastrous. That on the Phantom 5 isn’t exactly Stock Android but the Innjoo 2 comes with the company’s own UI ontop – InnOS; both come with some gesture support.
Battery and Others
The Innjoo 2 packs a 3200mAh Polymer battery with Rapid Charge 2.0 technology while the Phantom 5 makes do with a battery which is actually 200mAh less at 3000mAh. Both devices however, have a fingerprint scanner located below the main camera and the Phantom 5 has Hi-Fi 2.0 with Dolby Surround Digital for enhanced audio performance.
Verdict
The Tecno Phantom 5 is ahead some aspects like the display, memory and support for 4G LTE connectivity hence it is priced more (up to NGN 70,000); however the Innjoo 2 will appeal to those who are on a budget (less than NGN 50,000) and want something near but won’t also mind a good camera performance if the number of pixels are to go by.
Over to you, which would you rather go for – the Innjoo 2 or the Tecno Phantom 5?
The Phantom 5 deserves it’s price tag even though people have been complaining. The Innjoo 2 is not far behind too, I like the fact that the front camera on it is a 13MP snapper.
I do prefer the Tecno Phantom 5
I prefer the Phantom because it a brand that I am familiar and comfortable with.
The 2 phones are good but the Phantom has really amazing specs + it is Tecno, a well known brand.
I will rightly go for the Innjoo 2 (Two) because of the front camera and price.
I prefer the Innjoo 2 (Two) because of the front camera and design…
It is quite impressive tho
It is quite impressive, I must say
The camera on the inkoo is impressive but I am more of a functionality guy, so I prefer Phantom 5 because of its 3 GBRAM
