Innjoo Max 2 vs Infinix Hot 2: Specs Differences and Pricing

The Innjoo Max 2 has only recently been announced but has quickly attracted comparisons with one of the best selling devices locally – the Infinix Hot 2. Both Android Lollipop OS based devices with a properly crafted design,  both hold firm and bring different offerings to the table.

The Hot 2 is an Android One smartphone and is a birth child of the collaboration between Google and Infinix; the Max 2 on its part, is less specs and more battery which means it has every tendency of thriving well in areas with frequent power outages.

In lieu of this, it is only proper to place both devices side by side and see which of them come out on top; will it be the Infinix Hot 2 or the Innjoo Max 2? See below for details:

Innjoo Max 2 vs Infinix Hot 2: Specs Comparisons

Display, Dimensions and Networks

Both the Innjoo Max 2 and the Infinix Hot 2 sport a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and supports both 2G and 3G networks but not 4G LTE networks.

The Max 2 measures 142 x 70.9 x 8.9mm in dimensions and weigh 166.3 grams while the Hot 2 measures 145 x 71.86 x 8.8mm in dimension and weighs 160 grams size.

Processor, Memory and Storage

The Innjoo Max 2 and Infinix Hot 2 are powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6580 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-400 GPU and sports built-in 16GB storage space. The Max 2 has just 1GB of RAM and supports up to 128GB microSD cards while the Hot 2 is available in 1GB/2GB RAM variants and supports up to 32GB microSD cards.

Camera

Experts says more pixels doesn’t mean better photography, then again the lure of a bigger camera pixels is more than that of a smaller one. To keep the price competitive and affordable, the Infinix Hot 2 has a front facing 2-megapixels camera and a rear facing 8-megapixels camera.

The Innjoo Max 2 on its part has a massive front facing 8-megapixels camera which cannot be found on most local devices yet (as most of them have up to 5-megapixels) and a rear facing 13-megapixels camera.

Operating System

Both device run Android Lollipop OS out-of-the-box; the Innjoo Max 2 has the company’s InnUI laced ontop and there is no word yet on potential upgrades. Being an Android One smartphone, the Stock Android running Infinix Hot 2 is not only upgradable to Android Marshmallow, it will also receive important Android updates for the next two years directly from Google through Infinix.

Battery

The Max 2 from Innjoo excels very well in the Battery segment with a 4000mah Li-po battery with a capacity expected to last over a day or two of mixed usage. The Hot 2 manages a smaller non-removaable 2200mAh Lithium-ion battery which means it can only last under a day of usage.

Connectivity and Others

Both devices supports the same standard connectivity options – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, micro USB v2.0 and Wi-Fi Hotspot. Like every other devices released around here, there are Dual SIM slots onboard both but the Max 2 goes further with HotKnot connectivity.

Pricing

The Innjoo Max 2 costs N21,500 online but could cost up to 22,500 if it finds it way to brick-and-mortal stores while the Infinix Hot 2 sells for N17,500 (1GB)/N19,500 (2GB) online but costs around N18,500 (1GB)/N21,500 (2GB) from brick-and-mortal stores.

Verdict

Unless the areas where both devices come out a near tie, the Innjoo Max 2 outgunned the Infinix Hot 2 in the specs department with having a higher pixel camera on both the front & rear and pack bigger batteries which translates to longer hours of usage.

The Hot 2 only has the advantage of receiving updates to the next Android OS versions while the Max 2 might be stuck on Lollipop for a while before it gets (or does not get) updates. Which of the device suits your taste – the Innjoo Max 2 or the Infinix Hot 2?
