Instagram Live Rooms Now Allows Up To Four Participants

Instagram has announced the addition of a new feature to its Live feature. Until today, users could go on live broadcasts with only one guest but with Instagram Live Rooms users can now go live with up to three other participants. This feature is geared towards encouraging users to start talk shows, host jam sessions, co-create with other artistes, host Q&As or tutorials and more.

To equip creators with avenues to make money, Instagram now allows Live viewers to buy badges from their favourite hosts, donate to fundraisers and shop online. The company is also adding tools such as audio features and moderator controls over the coming months.

How to Get Started with Instagram Live Rooms

  • To get started with Live Rooms, launch the Instagram app and swipe left to select the ‘Live Camera’ option.
  • Next, add a title and tap the Rooms icon to add three other guests.
  • On the lists, the host can add guests and see those requesting to join the livestream.
  • The host can add all three guests at a go or one after the other.

To ensure the online safety of creators and their audiences, the company has ensured that user accounts in the blocked list of the host and invited guests will not be able to join the Live. Also, guests who have had their live access revoked due to community guidelines will be denied access to join. Live hosts have the ability to block and report comments, and apply comment filters.
