Intel Atom x3-powered JOI Phone 5 and JOI 7 Lite phablet launches in Malaysia

Malaysia’s SNS Network has announced two Intel Atom x3 Sofia processor powered devices – the JOI Phone 5 and JOI 7 Lite.

Both devices costs RM 399 ($106) and RM 299 ($79) respectively and can be purchased from multiple sources including AEON departmental stores, lazada.com.my, Gloo.com.my and Lelong.com.my. 

Both the JOI Phone 5 and the JOI 7 Lite phablet are powered by the same 64-bit Intel Atom x3 C3130 (SoFIA) dual-core processor paired Mali 400 MP2 GPU with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 32GB). They both support Dual SIM functionality with Dual 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS  and runs on stock looking Android 4.4 Kitkat OS.

The JOI Phone 5 on its part is the first ever Intel Atom x3 Sofia powered smartphone; it features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, has a rear facing 8MP camera with LED flash, a front facing 2MP camera and is backed by a removable 2100mAh battery.

The JOI 7 Lite is the first ever phablet from the JOI brand but isn’t the first tablet to be powered by the Intel Atom X3 Sofia SoC, rather it is the Teclast X70 3G tablet which also makes voice calls and is priced equivalent to $70.

It features a 7-inch display which in most cases qualifies as a tablet and the display has a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It has a rear facing 2MP camera, front VGA camera, micro USB port and is backed by a removable 2600mah battery.
