MWC 2016: Intex Aqua Fish with Sailfish OS 2.0 Goes Official

Intex has officially announced the Intex Aqua Fish Smartphone at the Mobile world congress 2016 in Barcelona. The smartphone is the latest from the many Aqua series devices from the company and is the first ever to run on a licensed Sailfish OS mobile operating system. Sales of the device are expected to start by April in India for a price tag of Rs. 7000 (US$ 102).

Moving to the specifications and features, the Intex Aqua Fish rocks the classic Jolla design, sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display and is backed by a 2500mAh battery which should last up to day of continuous usage. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz at 2GB of RAM, 16GB built-in expandable storage space and runs Sailfish OS 2.0.
In the camera aspect, there is a front-facing 2-megapixels snapper for Selfies and a rear facing 8-megapixels camera with LED flash. Connectivity options on the Dual SIM device, includes – 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, micro USB 2.0 and GPS/A-GPS.
Jolla has tweaked the OS on the Intex Aqua Fish to include a new feature called ‘Super Apps’ which has seen the integration of local premium services into the software’s gesture controls and the popular smart covers has been ditched on this device. The company also announced working with Mi-Fone to bring Sailfish-based smartphone to Africa in coming months.
