Staying true to promise, Apple has begun rolling out the Apple iOS 9 update to eligible and supported devices. The new OS came pre-loaded on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus smartphones as well as the iPad Pro and iPad Mini 4.
The iOS 9 Update is supposed to arrive automatically but if it doesn’t, those with supported devices can manually check for the update by navigating through Settings > General > Software Update to get the update via OTA.
The update is about 1GB – 1.3GB in size which is much reduced compared to previous iOS updates (the iOS 8 was 4GB in size).
Most of the improvements the new OS brings to iPhones and iPads includes – new San Francisco font, improvements to Siri, Longer battery life, proactive assistance in searching, more language support, built-in news app, improves notes app and new wallet apps. Further ones to iPads includes: Picture-in-Picture, Split view, QuickType Keyboard and Sliding over apps.
While the iOS 9 update came as scheduled, that cannot be said for the WatchOS 2.0 which has seen the release delayed. According to insider reports, the update had to be pulled at the last minute due to pertinent issues with bugs which couldn’t be resolved in time for the scheduled release date.
The update would definitely arrive for Apple Watch users once the issues have been resolved and stability can be ensured.
