Chinese video on demand website – iQIYI, a subsidiary of Chinese local search giant – Baidu, has announced a new jointly developed smartphone under the MIGE brand. The iQIYI MiGe M9 arrives pre-loaded with the iQIYI application and boots Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box.
Powered by the high-end 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor clocked at 2.15GHz with Adreno 530 GPU, the iQIYI MiGe M9 packs 4GB of RAM, 64GB built-in storage space, fingerprint sensor in the front home button and sports a 5.5-inch (Full HD) IPS LCD display with 2.5D protective glass.
The smartphone draws its design inspiration from the iPhone 6 (e.g camera placement, plastic inserts under the antenna) and arrives in either Champagne Gold or Rose Gold colours. In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 16MP camera and a front facing 8MP camera with various camera editing tools.
The iQIYI MiGe M9 supports 4G+ networks i.e LTE Cat. 6 + LTE Advanced, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Bluetooth 4.1, and Dual-Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/gn/ac. It is also equipped with Hi-Fi Audio support and backed by a 3100mAh battery. The basic MiGe model starts at CNY 1599 ($233) while the VIP model with premium access to iQIYI subscriptions costs a tad higher at CNY 2699 ($392).
