To replicate last year’s success story, Telkom Kenya or Helios (formerly Orange Kenya) has announced the the second generation Kaduda feature phone – the Kaduda 2.0 (or Kaduda V2). The telco operator has once again teamed up with iTel, to deliver a basic phone which most people have been ditching for proper smartphones.
Kaduda 2.0 is a Dual SIM phone like its predecessor and brings a couple of upgrades in specifications like the front 0.08MP camera (could be useless though); sharper screen compared to the V1, slimmer body build, and shortcut keys has been added to the usual keyboard layout and spacing.
The device supports 2G networks, sports a 1.77-inch QQVGA display and is backed by a 1000mAh – 1200mAh battery which should last several days of usage on a single charge. It packs 4MB RAM, 4MB built-in storage space, FM Radio, USB, 0.8MP rear camera, Bluetooth 2.1 and improved voice call quality.
The Kaduda 2.0 is available for a price tag is KsH 1099 (US$ 11 or NGN 3000) in Black, Navy Blue and Red colour options. Also, to get more users onboard Telkom Kenya is providing new entry-level smartphones for sale – the Alcatel Pixi 3 (KsH 5499) and Nokia Lumia 435 (KsH 8499) with free one month xcell bundles.
