Karbonn has announced the Karbonn Aura 9, an entry-level specced smartphone with long battery capacity, no 4G LTE connectivity and could be said to have some backward specs compared to competition. It is available in White and Navy Blue colour options for Rs 6390 ($98).
The highlight of the Karbonn Aura 9 is its huge 4000mAh battery capacity and since it is an entry-level device it should be able to stand up to 3 days or more of mixed usage; the company however confirms it provides up to 10 hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time.
The smartphone runs the dated Android 4.4 Kitkat OS out-of-the-box and supports 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity options. It sports a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels (FWVGA).
Under the hood, the Karbonn Aura 9 is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage space. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 32GB.
On the rear, the Aura 9 has a 8MP camera with LED flash, a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats, Dual SIM functionality with Dual Standby, support for 21 local Indian languages, FM Radio and smart gesture control to access apps even when the device is locked.
