Kata Digital Philippines has announced a new voice calling tablet – the Kata Drive. The new 7-inch slate has solid specs that belongs to the low to mid tier category, supports 3G only connectivity and runs the already Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with no word on update to Android Marshmallow OS.
The Dual SIM enabled Kata Drive sports a 6.95-inch IPS LCD display which some device makers believes the screen size belongs to the phablet category and has a screen resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It relies on a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek MT8321 processor and is backed by a 3300mAh battery.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 8MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash and Corning Gorilla Glass; and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video calling. Connectivity options available includes – 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and GPS/A-GPS.
The Kata Drive is available in two RAM and storage options. The 1GB RAM model comes along with 8GB storage space and is priced at Php 3999 (US$ 85) while the 2GB RAM version is paired with 16GB space and priced at Php 4699 (US$ 100).
Both models are on pre-order at Kata stores and kiosks, and a reported Php 200 (~ US$ 5) reservation has to be paid in advance. Gold and Grey are the available colour options.
