UMi has disclosed the UMI Zero 2 specifications and pricing ahead of a Q2 2016 launch date. The successor to the UMi Zero which comes with cutting edge technology and characteristics of high-end device costing over US$ 600 will go for the same price as its predecessor which is equivalent to US$ 299.
The UMi Zero 2 is styled as the first Deca-Core smartphone with Dual Camera; the device will use the Deca-core (10-cores) Mediatek Helio X20 MT6797 processor which could be a first for any smartphone, coupled with ARM Mali-T800 GPU, 4GB RAM and 64GB built storage space.
It sports a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED display made by Samsung with (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD or 2K resolution. The exact pixels of the cameras are not stated; the device uses a Dual rear camera setup – one for the regular image capturing and the other for depth sensing.
The idea behind using two cameras on the back is to the device camera differentiate between near ands far objects from the sensor and allow users tweak the focus of camera as well do other customisation like blurring the background or use different colour effects for the foreground and background.
On the software side, nothing less than Android Marshmallow should be expected, anything other than that is an epic fail. The UMi Zero 2 is expected to go on sale during Q2 2016 (between April – June) before then we could perhaps see more details released.
