When the name ‘Kodak’ comes to mind it reminds one of camera related products and of recent digital photo frames. But that is about to change as the company I set to announce some Android based devices including a smartphone at the CES 2015.
These Android powered mobile devices would be manufactured by the leading mobile device maker Bullitt Group which is the brain behind smartphones from caterpillar. The devices are said to be primarily targeted at people who want a ‘high end experience’ on a simple to use devices. The range of smartphones and tablets expected would bring camera related features (that’s where Kodak really comes in) such as Photo capture, management & sharing features to bring rich user experience.
Commenting on the launch, Oliver Schulte, CEO Bullitt Mobile says;
“Kodak is one of the world’s most recognisable brands. It is trusted by consumers as a marque of quality and innovation. We’ve taken that heritage and used it to inspire a range of beautifully designed devices that will let users take great pictures and edit, share, store and print them in an instant.
Delivering simplicity without compromise, these devices will address a segment of the mobile device market that has been poorly served to date. By giving customers easy access to printing and sharing services while still offering the latest Android OS and features found on high-end smartphones, we will appeal to a large audience of users who value ease of use and stylish design as highly as they value functionality.”
The last time Kodak was at any CES event was three years ago; the first smartphone is expected to be showcased at the CES 2015 in January and more devices including a 4G smartphone, a connected camera and tablet would be announced later by mid-2015.
Kodak seems to be back on track after filiing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection two years ago due to massive restructuring plan. The company itself is expected to announce a range of imaging products as well as memory cards, phone chargers and other related accessories.
