Kyocera has announced a new budget smartphone in the US. The Kyocera Hydro SHORE is exclusive to WalMart in partnership with AT&T GoPhone and follows the previous Hydro Air, View and Wave smartphones from Kyocera. It is priced at US$79.99.
The Kyocera Hydro SHORE (C6742A) sports a 5.0-inch (960 x 540 pixels) qHD IPS LCD display with a light, flexible acrylic lens. The always on and ready Wet Touchscreen Operation ensures the screen take calls, check messages, and operate apps even when wet.
On the inside, it is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 (MSM8909) processor clocked at 1.1GHz with 1GB RAM and 8GB built-in storage which is expandable up to 64GB via microSD. The waterproof and dustproof (IP57-certified) budget phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS.
The Kyocera Hydro SHORE is backed by a moderate 2160mAh Lithium-ion battery (non-removable) which should last up to 11 days of talk time and up to 13 hours of talk time. The inclusion of Kyocera’s Eco Mode ensures better power management.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 5MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera for video calling and selfies. The measures 139 x 72.1 x 9.9mm in dimensions, weighs in at 141 grams and supports 4G LTE connectivity.
