Kyocera has announced it Second-gen washable smartphone for Japanese service provider KDDI Corporation. The Kyocera Rafre (KYV40) succeeds last year’s DIGNO Rafre and will be available from March 2017 only in Japan. It will be offered in Clear White, Light Blue and Pale Pink colour options. Pricing details is unknown yet.
The Kyocera Rafre adds resistant against foaming body soap to resistance to hot water and foaming hand soap, found on its predecessor. It can also be used with when wearing gloves and with wet hands. The device comes pre-loaded with a cooking app that can be operated with hand gestures. With this special app, users can scroll through cooking recipes, set times and answer calls without touching the smartphone.
Backed by a long lasting 3000mAh battery, the device sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD TFT LCD display with Blue Light cut app for ease on the eye and reduction of eye fatigue, and Kyocera’s smart sonic receiver technology to transmit sound to the eardrum via the phone’s display.

For imaging, the Kyocera Rafre has a rear facing 13MP camera with Phase Detection AutoFocus (PDAF) and Kyocera’s proprietary image-processing AINOS engine and Auto HDR alongside a front facing 5MP camera for selfies. The rest of the specs include – 16GB built-in storage space, microSD card slot (expandable up to 200GB), 2GB RAM and Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
