Kyocera has teamed up with KDDI carrier in Japan to announce the Kyocera Torque G02 rugged smartphone. Like all rugged smartphones, it can survive harsh weather conditions and is tipped to be first smartphone to be resistant to salty sea water.
The Kyocera Torque G02 is said to be MIL-STD-810G certified which verifies its toughness claims and is also Dustproof and Waterproof (IP67) certified. Asides being resistant to salty sea water, it performs well under water and is able to take videos and photos underwater by activating a special capture mode triggered by a pressure sensor.
Moving to the specs, it doesn’t offer too much; it sports a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IGZO LCD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (MSM8928) processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage.
On the rear there is a 13MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies and video chats. Connectivity options on the device includes – NFC, Dual Band WI-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, One Seg TV, VoLTE, mobile wallet and 4G LTE (LTE Cat.4) connectivity. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop Os and is backed by a 2910mAh battery.
