India’s Lava Mobiles has announced its first smartphone with FullView display – the Lava Z91. The budget offering, which will face strong competition from the Xiaomi Redmi 5, comes pre-loaded with the dated Android 7.0 Nougat OS with Star OS 4.2 on top and the front camera supports Face Unlock (0.7 second unlock time).
Similar to Huawei’s Honor 7A, the Lava Z91 sports a 5.7-inch (1440 x 720 pixels) HD+ FullView display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass on top. It measures 152.02 x 72.9 x 7.7 mm, weighs in at 147 grams and power is supplied by a long-lasting 3,000mAh battery.
On the inside, the smartphone relies on the MediaTek MT6739 quad-core 64-bit processor paired with 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD). In the camera segment, there a single rear 13MP camera with LED flash alongside a front facing 8MP camera, also with LED flash.
Asides Face Unlock, the Lava Z91 also has a rear placed multi-functional fingerprint sensor and connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS. It arrives in Blue colour option only for price tag of Rs. 9,999 and will be available in over 100,000 retail stores across India.
