The Meizu Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition is about to be dethroned as the most powerful Ubuntu phone till date with the looming launch of the Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition, which has surfaced in a leak. The original Meizu MX6 with Android OS (Flyme UI) has not launched yet but it is expected to go official before the Ubuntu edition.
The Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition sports a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display and relies on the Mediatek Helio X20 Deca-Core 64-bit processor which is near identical to the Helio X25 SoC on the Meizu Pro 6. The SoC is paired with Mali-T880 GPU, 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage space.
In the camera segment, there is a rear facing 20.7 megapixels camera and a front facing 8 megapixels camera for handling video chats and selfies. The mBack physical home button returns with the fingerprint sensor embedded and power is provided by a sizeable 4400mAh battery.
There is no exact timeframe for the launch of the Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition but it is expected sometime around Q3 or Q4 2016, obviously after the Android version makes it way into the market. It is expected to sell for a price tag of EUR 399 which is equivalent to around USD 444.
