Smartphone with Random Access Memory (RAM) totalling 4GB are slowing creeping into the market. Nowadays even 2GB of RAM are now associated with midrange device, how about 4GB of RAM? Lenovo has the answer, the company has announced the K80 smartphone which would use 4GB of RAM.
Considering the fact that the Asus Zenfone 2 announced earlier this year became the first smartphone to use 4GB of RAM. The Lenovo K80 is expected to rival the Zenfone 2 with both of them selling in China; not only in-terms of RAM, but also in terms of pricing and other features including its huge 4000mAh battery. The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro also sports 4GB of RAM but should be priced higher than both K80 and Zenfone 2.
Moving to the full specs, the Lenovo K80 features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a 64iBit Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.8GHz, 64GB space of internal storage, as mentioned earlier it uses 4GB of RAM and is said to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Other specs details includes – 13MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), measures 8.5mm in thickness, and is backed by a 4000mAh battery.
The Lenovo K80 is available in China for CNY 1799 ($290) and like the Zenfone 2 it has 2GB RAM/32GB internal storage version which costs less for CNY 1499 (~$240). Both models for now are looking like they would be available in China for now. Details on international launch is however sketchy at the moment.
