Sometime in June, Lenovo unveiled three new smartphones – the Lenovo Z5, Lenovo K5 Note and Lenovo A5 at a keynote event in Beijing, China. All three devices conform with the recent fullscreen display trend and come pre-loaded with different versions of Lenovo’s ZUI.
Lenovo Z5
The start of the show – the Z5 did not live up to the bezel-less expectation the company had set in its promotion. The device has a notched 6.2-inch (2246 x 1080 pixels) FHD+ 19:9 display with 90-percent screen-to-body ratio, 16MP + 8MP dual rear cameras with AI features, front 8MP camera with Beauty mode, rear fingerprint sensor and 3,300mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
The Lenovo Z5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor paired with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB built-in expandable storage. The 6GB/64GB model (Black) is priced at CNY 1,299; the 6GB/64GB model (Aurora or Blue) for CNY 1,399 and the 6GB/128GB (Aurora or Blue) model for CNY 1,799.
Lenovo K5 Note (2018)
The K5 Note (2018), a refreshed version of the 2016 model, is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with either 3GB or 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB built-in expandable storage. It packs a 6-inch HD+ IPS display with 18:9 aspect ratio, rear fingerprint sensor and a 3,760mAh battery.
Photography is handled by a rear 16MP (f/2.0) camera with AI capabilities paired with a secondary 2MP (f/2.4) camera for depth recognition while the front camera is a 8MP (f/2.0) snapper. It comes pre-loaded with Lenovo’s ZUI 4.0 with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. Pricing starts at CNY 799 for the 3GB/32GB model and CNY 999 for the 4GB/64GB model.
Lenovo A5
The A5 has a smaller 5.45-inch HD+ display but the battery capacity is the highest here (4,000mAh). It is equipped with the MediaTek MT6739 quad-core processor paired with 3GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB built-in storage (expandable up to 256GB via microSD).
The rest of the specs include: 13MP (f/2.2) rear camera, 8MP (f/2.2) front camera, rear fingerprint sensor, face unlock and ZUI 3.9 (Android 8.1 Oreo). The Lenovo A5 (3GB/32GB model) costs CNY 599.
