China is the largest smartphone market in the world and the country has several manufacturing companies/OEMs – while some are popular; others are locally known but all of them make decent devices clones or not-clones.
It is no surprise that LeTV, a Chinese based Television manufacturer is looking to add smartphones to its line of products. The aforementioned smartphones are the LeTV MX1, LeTV X1 and LeTV S1; all three devices are said would run Ubuntu OS.
The three new smartphones from LeTV had some of their brief details unveiled by Team Ubuntu which makes us believe that they could run the Ubuntu OS instead of Android and are said to be manufactured by Asus.
• Starting from the top, the LeTV MX1 is a phablet with 6.3-inch display, powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm snapdragon 810 processor and 20.7MP camera with Sony sensor.
• The LeTV X1 is the next in line with a 5.5-inch 1440 x 2560 pixels display made by sharp, powered by a Qualcomm snapdragon 810 CPU, 16MP main camera, 4MP front camera and a full metal body build.
• The LeTV S1 is the smallest of the trio, it features a 5.5-inch display, powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6595 CPU; the phone has a plastic body with metal frames.
All three models would be available in Black, Gold and White colour options. The LeTV MX1 is expected to be priced at RMB 3000 ($481), the LeTV X1 at RMB 2000 ($320) and the LeTV s1 at RMB 3000 ($481).
Recently, the Chairman of LeTV stressed that LeTV smartphones with come with world class Hi-Fi technology, moderate Size and nice design. There is no word when these smartphones will go official but it is expected to be available in China exclusively.
