LG announce WebOS 3.0 for Smart TV

LG is already preparing ahead for the Consumer Electronic Show 2016 event in Las Vegas by January; the South Korean company has announced the WebOS 3.0 Smart TV platform which will run on its latest Smart TV Lineup for 2016.

The LG WebOS 3.0 brings new and updated features such as the Music Play App which play music through the WebOS 3.0 TV speakers, even when the TV is off; Multi-View for viewing two channels at the same time or one channel and a Blu-Ray movie; IoTV app for allowing on-screen control of connected home appliances from LG or from manufacturers compatible with IoTV.

It also boast of three magic smart features – Magic Zoom, Magic Mobile Connection and an improved Magic Remote. The Magic Zoom allow zooming objects on the screen without losing the picture quality; Magic Mobile Connection allow accesing mobile apps by connecting to mobile phones via the LG TV Plus App to the LG smart TV.

Buttons has been added to the Magic Remote to allow for controlling Set-top boxes and the redesigned Screen Remote feature which allows for simple user interface and convenience. Another feature added is Channel Plus which offers friendly over-the-top content. 

Commenting on the announcement, President and CEO at LG’s Home Entertainment Company, Brain Kwom said;

“We are excited about webOS 3.0, a major update since this advanced TV platform technology was first introduced in 2014. The webOS story of Simple Connection, Simple Switching and Simple Discovery has really connected with customers and illustrates very clearly our commitment to securing a leadership role in the smart TV market with innovation and creativity.”
