LG has revealed that it’s upcoming flagship, the G4 would pack a front facing 8Mp camera and 16MP rear facing camera; both cameras are said to have been developed in-house by LG InnoTek.
The South Korean company is tipping the 16MP camera as ‘ground breaking’; it comes with f/1.8 aperture and can receive about 80% more light than the LG G3 – this only translate to the fact that it would be suitable for taking high quality pictures of fast moving objects and in conditions with low light condition.
The company has also developed a front facing 8MP camera module which would respond to the current selfie menace. This would mark LG’s first highest ever front camera unit on any of its smartphone. The camera module uses an ‘Ultra-thin IR filter’ to keep infrared light fron entering the camera lens.
Commenting on the new development, Ung-beom Lee, CEO of LG Innotek said;
“At LG Innotek, we are constantly working to ensure that the cameras we develop allow users to capture and preserve the moments that are most special to them. We are extremely excited to see our technology in LG’s next flagship smartphone because we believe that the power, precision and operability of our camera module will clearly make an impression on consumers.”
What we have confirmed so far about the upcoming LG G4 is that – it would sport a 5.5-inch (2560 X 1440 pixels) Quad HD IPS display, it would boot Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with LG UX 4.0 ontop and now it would use the 16MP/8MP rear and front camera combinations. The device is expected to be launched on April 28th in an event which would happen simultaneously in Six locations.
