Official: LG G7 ThinQ with 6.1-inch FullVision display, 16MP Dual Rear Cameras, AI CAM

LG has finally announced its newest high-end G series smartphone – the LG G7 ThinQ at an event in New York. The flagship, as expected, is the successor to the LG G6 and takes a similar ThinQ branding as the recently announced LG V30S ThinQ, with majority of the focus on the AI-powered features on offer.

The LG G7 ThinQ has a rear dual camera setup which incomporates a 16MP Super Wide Angle (F1.9 / 107 degrees) + 16MP Standard Angle (F1.6 / 71 degrees) sensors. The AI-based camera features on the LG V30S ThinQ such as AI CAM, Q Lens and Bright Mode, has been further enhanced on the G7 ThinQ.

The AI CAM now offers more shooting modes (up to 19) and three other effect options asides the ones recommended. Other camera-centric features include: Live Photo mode, Portrait mode and Sticker.

The smartphone is housed in a sleek, polished metal body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and rear. It sports a 6.1-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) FullVision LCD Super Bright display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut and up to 1,000 nit of brightness.

Depending on the display’s content, the LG G7 ThinQ has six different viewing modes: Auto, Cinema, Eco, Expert, Game and Sports. Also, the smartphone’s New Second Screen can be customised to suit one’s taste and style, and the display can be set to appear bezel-less or the more traditional look.

The G7 ThinQ is both MIL-STD 810G and IP68-certified (dust and water resistance), and arrives in two models (RAM and storage): 4GB RAM with 64GB storage (G7 ThinQ) and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage (G7+ ThinQ). It packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo OS as well as Google Assistant, Google Lens and Google Photos.

The smartphone also has audio features such as Hi-Fi Quad DAC and DTS: X 3D Surround Sound. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with support for both wired and wireless charging, and the new inbuilt Boombox Speaker uses the device’s internal spaces as a resonance chamber to deliver twice the bass of conventional smartphones.

Available in Aurora Black, Moroccan Blue, Platinum Gray and Raspberry Rose colours, the LG G7 ThinQ will go on sale in South Korea (in coming days) and subsequently in markets across Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America. Pricing details will be announced as at time of availability in Local markets.
