LG has officially made available the LG LifeBand Touch and the HeartRate Earphones, both fitness-centric device would be shipping in the US on May 18 while key markets in Asia and Europe would get the device in following weeks.
The LG Lifeband Touch debuted at the CES 2014; it features a 0.9-inch (32 x 128 pixel) OLED display, Bluetooth 4.0, motion tracking sensors, 90mAh battery which provides 5days of continous usage. Based on its sizes – M, L, XL the weight of the device ranges from 49.9g to 53.1g and the length ranges from 166mm to 199mm.
Primarily, the Lifeband Touch monitors and tracks fitness progress. Also makes manging Playlist easy as well as checking incoming calls and messages. Both device connects to iOS and Android devices through the LG Fitness App, and also designed to work with other fitness app MapMyFitness, RunKeeper, MyFitnessPal.
The LG Heartrate Earphones is fascinating product which measures user blood flow using a proprietary technology called the PerformTek Sensor Technology. The device uses sensors to measure blood flow through the inner ear, a method which LG claims is the best for real time heart monitoring. The South Korean company also claim that the Hearttate Earphones gets accurate fitness and health metrics compared to other devices due to the physiology of the human ear.
The Heartrate Earphones can be used alone and can as well be used with the Lifeband touch. A separate added clip-on medallion contains bluetooth connectivity, which sends data to the connected device be it the Lifeband Touch or a compatible smartphone.
When using the Heartrate earphones with the LG fitness app, users are able to receive audible status updates with the earphone while also informing of user heart rate and VO2 max (maximal oxygen level comsumption) levels in real time.
The LG HeartRate Earphones would be sold for $180 and the LG Lifeband Touch would be available for $150.
