LG Electronics has announced the launch of the LG V40 ThinQ with a total of five cameras (two in front and three at the back). The premium V series smartphone is targeted at today’s generation of storytellers that prefer to communicate with visuals and videos.
The highlight of the new LG V40 ThinQ is the triple rear and dual front camera setup. The rear camera module has three lenses – a 16MP Super Wide-Angle (F1.9 / 1.0μm / 107°), 12MP Standard Angle (F1.5 / 1.4μm / 78°) and 12MP Telephoto (F2.4 / 1.0μm / 45°) while the front module has two – 8MP Standard Angle (F1.9 / 1.12μm / 80°) and 5MP Wide (F2.2 / 1.12μm / 90°).
The triple Shot feature on the main camera combines images captured with each of the lenses into a short video. Other features include AI CAM, AI Auto White Balance (AI AWB), AI Shutter, Cine Shot, 3D Light Effect, Makeup Pro, Custom Backdrop, My Avatar and AR Emoji.
The smartphone packs a 6.4-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440) OLED FullVision display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB built-in expandable storage (UFS 2.1). It is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform and comes pre-loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS.
For premium audio sound, the LG V40 ThinQ comes with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC, DTS:X 3D Surround Sound and Boombox Speaker (introduced on the LG G7 ThinQ). It is also the first LG smartphone to carry the Audio Tuned by Meridian label. When placed on a solid surface or hollow box, the phone acts like a woofer to amplify the bass.
Like its predecessor – the LG V30 ThinQ, the phone is IP68 rated (waterproof and dust proof) and meets the U.S. Department of Defense requirements for durability, passing 14 MIL-STD 810G Transit Drop Test categories for suitability in military operations.
The LG V40 ThinQ has a USB Type-C 2.0 port, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 BLE, rear fingerprint sensor, face recognition and a 3,300mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. It will arrive in eye-catching New Aurora Black, Carmine Red, New Moroccan Blue and New Platinum Gray colours.
