LG Velvet Now On Sale in South Korea For US$ 738

LG recently announced the move away from using alphabetical designations for its smartphones in favor of more familiar and expressive names. The new strategy starts with the LG Velvet, which has gone on sale in South Korea for KRW 899,800 (~US$ 740 /EUR 673) from May 15. Pre-orders opens online from May 8 – 14 in Aurora Gray, Aurora Green, Aurora White and Illusion Sunset colours.

Under the hood, the LG Velvet comes pre-loaded with Android 10 and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 7nm EUV Mobile Platform paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB built-in storage (expandable up to 1TB via microSD). It packs a 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display with 20.5: 9 aspect ratio, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers, and in-display fingerprint sensor.

For photography, the device has a triple camera setup with a 48MP primary camera paired with 8MP ultra-wide lens and 5MP depth sensor. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera in the raindrop notch. Additionally, LG confirms the presence of 5G (SA/NSA) connectivity, IP68 water resistant rating, MIL-STD 810G certification and support for LG Dual Screen and Stylus Pen. Power is supplied by a 4,300mAh battery with fast charging and 10W wireless charging.
