LINE acquires MixRadio from Microsoft

Microsoft has today announced that it has reached an agreement with LINE to sell the online music streaming service, MixRadio to it. The mobile messaging app, LINE is available across multiple platforms in over 230 countries around the world.

Jyrki Rosenberg, Head of MixRadio, comments.

He further states:

‘In terms of the MixRadio app and service itself, MixRadio fans can expect the same level of commitment to bring a personalised music experience to Lumia smartphones, thanks to MixRadio’s recently launched recommendation engine.’

The music streaming service and app is still expected to be available on Lumia smartphones and the company is expected to expand into iOS and Android ecosystem.

The MixRadio team will continue to be based in Bristol, UK and with the help of LINE to expand its services to more music lovers. The service is rapidly expanding into the rapidly growing wearable market and the home audio space.

The terms of the deal is not announced but the deal is expected to be completed by Early 2015.
