The Linshof i8 is one of the smartphones to expect by Q1 2015 by a relatively unknown German OEM, Linshof. According to the press release sent out by the coy, the i8 Android smartphone is a “high-end hardware for a mid-ranged price”. To some extent the photo looks like a mockup with quite some odd shape but that is understandable as its has an aluminium brushed body.

Moving to the specs, the Linshof i8 packs a 5-inch 1080p ‘Super AMOLED’ or ‘IPS’ display depending on choice and different markets. The device has 80GB of internal storage from SanDisk (64GB chip and additional 16GB module) with 3GB of RAM and powered by a 2.1GHz 32-bit octa-core processor.
On the rear is a 13MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, 28mm wide-angle lens, Sony CMOS sensor and a front facing 8MP sensor which would be tipped for taking delightful selfies. Connectivity options on the device includes – GPS, Bluetooth v4.0, HDMI 1.4 support with 3D, NFC, WiFi/LTE (4G) with an electronic compass, a gyroscope and other related sensors.
The Linshof i8 phone is expected to run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with the company’s custom UI, or an optional touch-based Linux build ontop (still in the works). The device rely on a 3100mAh battery to provide enough juice to power up the device for some hours. According to press release, it comes with a USD$380 with the first quarter of 2015 (Q1 2015) tipped as a release date; it is available in White Coffee and Black colour option.
A 10-inch tablet with similar build, design and specs is also expected to debut with the only difference being the 2048×1536 display and 9000mAh battery. The tablet could be called the Linshof I8 tablet and would debut around the same time as the smartphone.
