The Blackberry Slider smartphone briefly showcased at the MWC 2015 in March is said to be device that would run Google’s mobile OS and is currently known internally as the Blackberry Venice

The Slider smartphone is expected to have a large touch display and a slider Blackberry signature QWERTY Keyboard. It would also be available in two OS models – one running Android and another running Blackberry 10 OS.

Today, a Blackberry developer posted the Blackberry Passport running Android Lollipop OS on his twitter handle. With all the supposed leaks over the past few weeks, does this confirm that the company is indeed toying with the idea of making an Android smartphone.

The Blackberry Passport running Android Lollipop OS has the model name – BlackBerry Passport SQW-ANDS, the last four figures indicating it is an Android Version. There shouldn’t be any changes in terms of the hardware.

While this is still not an official confirmation of the existence of such device, the more leaks or rumours that pops up suggests the Blackberry did consider switching the OS on its device possibly to gain more market share from Android and iOS.
