Micromax has announced a new entry-level smartphone to its Canvas range of devices. The Micromax Canvas Spart as it is known will boot Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box and considering the latest trend it would be offered via a series of flash sales online. The company has partnered with Snapdeal to sell the Canvas Spark for INR 4,999 ($79).
The main attraction is obviously the Android Lollipop OS which makes it one of the cheapest using the latest OS yet around, the rest of the specs are pretty much entry-level. The Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 features a 4.7-inch (960 X 540 pixels) qHD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood it is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MTK6582M chipset clocked at 1.3GHz with ARM Mali-400 GPU, 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD slot onboard for storage expansion (up to 32GB).
Handling photography on the device is a 8MP camera unit with LED flash and a front facing 2MP camera. connectivity options on the device includes – GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 3G. It supports Dual SIM slots (3G in the first SIM), weighs 134 grams, measures 8.5mm thin and is backed by a 2000mAh battery which is expected to last 335 Hours of Standby Time et 7 Hours of Talktime (not sure if on 3G).
Those interested in the device can start registering for flash sale which is expected to start selling on April 29th. Recaping the price tag, it sells for INR 4,999 ($79).
