MediaTek Unveil Dimensity 700 7nm SoC For 5G Smartphones, MT8192 7nm and MT8195 6nm For Next-Gen Chromebooks

MediaTek has released the details of its upcoming Dimensity 5G chipset for mass market 5G smartphones – the Dimensity 700 7nm SoC. The company also shared the details about two new chipsets for chromebooks – the MT8192 7nm (mainstream) and MT8195 6nm (premium). Devices with Dimensity 700 will arrive in Q1 2021 while devices with MT8192 and MT8195 will arrive starting Q2 2021 and later.

MediaTek Dimensity 700

Designed based on the 7nm process, the MediaTek Dimensity 700 has an octa-core CPU (2x high performance ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked up to 2.2GHz and 6x power efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked up to 2.0GHz) with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The 5G modem supports NA/NSA modes as well as 5G Carrier Aggregation (2CC 5G-CA), 5G dual SIM dual standby (DSDS), and 5G-exclusive Voice over New Radio (VoNR) services.

The chip supports up to 90Hz refrsh rates in FHD+ displays, up to 64MP single camera with with AI-bokeh, AI-color and AI-beauty features, 16MP + 16MP dual-camera and multiple voice assistant such as Alibaba, Amazon, Baidu, Google and Tencent. It also features the MediaTek 5G UltraSave tech to improve battery life and is expected to arrive Q1 2021 in devices in the sub-$250 category.

MediaTek MT8192 and MT8195

The MT8192 and MT8195 are designed to power Chromebooks with longer battery life and offer incredible computing experiences. The MediaTek MT8192 has an octa-core CPU (4x ARM Cortex-A76 cores and 4x ARM Cortex-A55 cores) with five-core ARM Mali-G57 GPU and MediaTek’s APU 2.0. It supports up to two simultaneous FHD displays, and up to 60Hz refresh rates in WQHD or up to 120Hz in FHD+.

The more powerful MediaTek MT8195 has an octa-core CPU (4x ARM Cortex-A78 cores and 4x Cortex-A55 cores) with five-core ARM-Mali G57 GPU and MediaTek’s APU 3.0. It supports Dolby Vision, 7.1 surround sound audio, Codec AV1 hardware video accelerator and up to three simultaneous displays. Both chipsets integrate 4K HDR video decoding and support PCI-Express Gen 3 and USB 3.2 Gen 1.
