Following the debut of the Xiaomi Redmi 6A with Mediatek Helio A22 quad-core 12nm 64-bit processor, Taiwanese chipmaker, Mediatek has quietly listed the new SoC on its official website.
Manufactures using TSMC’s 12nm FinFET production process, the mid-range chipset packs 4x ARM cortex-A53 cores clocked up to 2.0GHz with IMG PowerVR GE-class GPU, eMMC 5.1 storage, along with the option of either high-speed LPDDR4x (up to 6GB) memory or the cost-efficient LPDDR3 (up to 4GB).
The Mediatek Helio A22 uses the company’s latest MediaTek CorePilot technology for power aware scheduling, thermal management and UX monitoring. It also has a new ultra-low power Tiny Sensor Hub, ideal for apps that require always-on sensor readings (pedometers or vocal-triggers).
Devices powered by the chipset will have lightweight edge AI features such as Face ID (Face Unlock), AI Smart Photo Album and advanced single-cam or dual-camera Bokeh effects to photography.
The Mediatek Helio A22 support displays with up to HD+ (1600 x 720 pixels) resolution and 20:9 aspect ratio, up to 21MP single camera with AI camera features or up to 13 + 8MP dual camera system with twin ISP, 1080p @30fps video playback, Bluetooth 5.0, dual 4G SIM support with VoLTE/ViLTE and multi-GNSS options (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo).
