MediaTek has added two new processors to its Helio G series of processors – the MediaTek Helio G96 and MediaTek Helio G88. The newest chipsets are expected to deliver an everyday user experience with an octa-core CPU performance that boosts the display and photography performance to mid-tier devices. Both support high-end 4G connectivity (no 5G) and MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite gaming suite.
The MediaTek Helio G96, successor to the Helio G95, supports up to 120Hz refresh rate on Full HD+ resolution on either AMOLED or LCD display. The octa-core CPU configuration is made up of two ARM Cortex-A76 cores @ up to 2.05GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. This is paired with ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and support for LPDDR4x (2133MHz) RAM, eMMC 5.1 or UFS 2.2 storage, up to 108MP single camera, 16MP + 16MP dual cameras, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5 and 4K @ 30fps/FHD @120fps.

The MediaTek Helio G88, successor to the Helio G85, has two ARM Cortex-A75 cores @ up to 2.0GHz and six ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores – same as the Helio G96 – in its octa-core CPU configuration. It supports Full HD+ resolution displays with up to 90Hz refresh rate, ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU, up to 8GB LPDDR4x (1800MHz) RAM, eMMC 5.1 storage, up to 64MP single camera and 16MP + 16MP dual cameras.
