MediaTek has announced a new processor and a new P Series of processors – the MediaTek Helio P10. It is said to be aimed at the mid-range to high-end devices and toes the same line as the MediaTek Helio X10 and the MediaTek Helio X20.
The MediaTek Helio P10 is a 64-bit octa-core processor with eight Cortex A53 cores – four of those cores is clocked at 2GHz and the other four at a much reduced clock speed (exact figure is not stated). The GPU is the more powerful dual-core Mali T860 GPU clocked at 700Mhz and dual-channel 32-bit LPDDR3 memory with a frequency of 800MHz.
Notably, it supports World mode LTE Cat 6 (which theoretically peaks 300Mbps) plus 2×20 carrier aggregation with 300/500Mbps data speed; CDMA2000 modem includes to take advantage of CDMA cellular networks; support for a single 21MP camera or 16MP/8MP Dual camera setup with a TrueBrightISP engine in the mix for RWWB capture and Hi clarity and Hi fidelity audio.
The MediaTek Helio P10 is built on TSMC 28nm process and would be available to OEMs by Q3 2015 for sampling in their devices; before the end of the year we should see devices powered by the SoC.
