MediaTek’s Helio P70 Brings Minor Upgrade Over Helio P60

Mediatek has unveiled a new Helio P Series processor – the Mediatek Helio P70 – successor to this year’s Helio P60. Like the just announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 SoC, it offers upgraded imaging and camera support, gaming performance boost and enhanced AI engine.

Built with TSMC’s 12nm FinFET technology, the Mediatek Helio P70 packs 4x ARM Cortex-A73 2.1 GHz processors and 4x ARM Cortex-A53 2.0 GHz processors in an octa-core big.LITTLE configuration. For an additional power boost, this is paired with the ARM Mali-G72 MP3 GPU clocked up to 900MHz.

The Helio P70 delivers 13 percent performance improvement, better overall gaming experience, Dual 4G VOLTE connectivity and 10 – 30 percent AI processing boost over the Mediatek Helio P60. It is built on MediaTek’s NeuroPilot platform and features MediaTek’s smart antenna technology.

The Mediatek Helio P70 supports 24 + 16MP dual cameras or 32MP single camera, 4K video shooting Full HD+ screen resolution (2180 x 1080 pixels) and a variety of AI-backed photo and video experiences such as real-time beautification, scene detection and AR capabilities. It also features improved deep-learning facial detection with up to 90 percent accuracy.
