Rapidly growing Chinese phone maker, Meizu has announced a new decent looking wearable – Meizu Band to go along with the Meizu M5 Note. The fitness tracker supports Android and iOS devices, and seems to combine the efforts of the Sony SmartBand (body outline), Fitbit Flex (OLED display) and Jambone Up Move (pricing).
Priced at CNY 299 (~ US$ 33) in China, the Meizu Band sports a touchscreen OLED display which only come-up when in use, built-in heart rate monitoring and promises up to 15 days of battery life without the heart rate monitor turned off or about a week of usage with the feature turned on.
The band has TPU flesh with stainless steel buckle and is Dust and Water resistance (IP67 certified) i.e it has been tested to work for at least 30 minutes while under 3.2 feet (1 metre) of water and uses a magnetic charger to power up. It is also compatible with Meizu’s health based fitness app.
Predictably, the Meizu Band offers the expected fitness band features such as call and text notifications, sleep and activity tracking, calories burnt, find a phone function within 10m (via Bluetooth LE) and move reminders. It will arrive in China on December 8th but no word yet on worldwide availability.
