Meizu E2 Unveiled With Helio P20 SoC, 4GB RAM, Flyme OS 6.0

Meizu launched a new ‘E’ series smartphone – the Meizu E2 (Blue Charm E2 or Meilan E2) at an event in China yesterday. The device retains a similar design to recent smartphones from the Chinese company, a multifunctional physical home button and comes pre-installed with Flyme OS 6.0 based on YunOS.

Sporting a metal unibody design, the Meizu E2 has a 5.5-inch IPS display with 2.5D Curved Glass, screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD), GFF full lamination, 1000:1 contrast ratio and 450 cd/m2 typical brightness. Power is supplied by a 3400mAh battery with a 9V/2A fast charger (mCharge 3.0).

On the inside, the E2 relies on an octa-core Mediatek Helio P20 (MT6757) processor clocked at 2.3GHz and Mali-T880 MP2 GPU paired with either 3GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage. There is a higher model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB space. Both store options are expandable up to 128GB via microSD.

The device has an interesting 4-LED dual-tone Flash ( 2x dual -LED, dual-tone flash sensors) sitting right next to the rear placed 13MP camera with ‎f/2.2 aperture, PDAF and 5P lens. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 5MP snapper with ‎f/2.0 aperture and 1.4um pixel size.

The front home button houses the mTouch fingerprint sensor, which has an unlock time of 0.2 sec and helps in the process of making secure payments. The Meizu E2 has a hybrid Dual SIM slot, measures 153.7 x 75.7 x 7.5 mm, weighs 155 grams‎ and supports the 4G LTE bands in China.

The 3GB RAM model costs CNY 1299 (US$ 188) while the 4GB RAM version costs CNY 1599 (US$ 232). Black, Champagne Gold and Silver are the available colour options. Pre-orders for the Meizu E2 is already underway in China and is on until April 29th when shipping starts.
