Meizu has finally announced the Meizu M2 affordable midrange phone as expected; the device is available in China for less than $100 (CNY 599 – $96) in Blue, Gray, Pink and White colour options.
The Meizu M2 features a 5-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and a pixel density of 294ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-T720 GPU.
Handling tasks underneath is 2GB of RAM and there is 16GB internal storage space which is expandable by a microSD card slot (up to 128GB). On the rear, a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and the front camera is a 5MP snapper.
The M2 is a Dual SIM phone (Micro SIM + Nano SIM) but the Nano SIM slot also doubles as a microSD card slot, supports 4G LTE connectivity and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Flyme 4.5 UI ontop. It is backed by a 2450mAh battery which is expected to last some hours.
Compared to the Meizu M2 Note, the M2 has the same 13MP/5MP camera and also supports 4G LTE connectivity, however, it has a 5-inch HD resolution display compared to 5.5-inch FHD resolution and is powered by a less powerful Mediatek MT6735 compared to the MT6753.
The Meizu M2 will have to tough it out in China with the likes of Lenovo K30, Xiaomi Redmi 2 and other similar smartphones of the same price range in China.
