Meizu has taken the wraps off the Meizu M3S – the upgraded version of the Meizu M3 budget smartphone which launched in China back in April. It will be available starting June 18th in two models – a CNY 699 (USD 106) priced 2GB RAM/16GB storage and the other model – 3GB RAM/32GB storage for CNY 899 (USD 136). The company also announced the white variant of the Meizu EP51.
Measuring 8.3mm thick and weighing 138 grams, the Meizu M3S has a full metal unibody and comes in Gold, Grey, Rose Gold or Silver colours. It 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display with 2.5D curved glass design, powered by an octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6750 processor with a high-end Mali T860 GPU and is backed by a 3020mAh battery.
In the camera section, the camera remains a front facing 5-megapixels camera with with f/2.0 aperture and 4P wide-angle lens; and a rear facing 13-megapixels camera with f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, PDAF (0.2 second fast focus) and dual-tone LED flash. Connectivity options include – 4G with VoLTE, Dual-Band Wi-FI, GPS and Bluetooth.
The physical home button houses the mTouch 2.1 fingerprint scanner, meaning the device can be locked/unlocked using fingerprint and used for mobile payments. Compared to the Meizu M3, the Meizu M3S comes with a bigger battery, mTouch 2.1 fingerprint scanner and costs a bit more for each variant.
