Meizu MX4 Goes official with 5.36-inch full HD display, 20.7MP camera, MediaTekMT6595 Octa-Core SoC

We did not see this coming, the Meizu MX4 was tipped to launch on September 2nd and it certainly did. The Chinese OEM has finally announced its flagship device for the year 2014 with what you would call flagship specs.

The Meizu MX4 features a 5.36 (1920 x 1152 pixels) IPS display with a 15:9 aspect ratio, 2.6mm slim bezels on the side and a pixel density of 418ppi. Under the hood is an Octa-core MediaTek MT6595 processor (the MediaTek MT6595 processor uses big.LITTLE architecture with four ARM Cortex-A17 processor and four Cortex-A7 processors) with PowerVR G6200 GPU and 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB, 32GB and 64GB internal storage option but no word on expandable storage.

On the rear is a 20.7MP Exmos RS rear camera from Sony with new dual tone, dual LED flash. The camera has a 0.3sec focussing speed, F/2.2 aperture and ability to record 4k videos. There is also a 2.1MP front camera with F/2.0 aperture. The Meizu MX4 is compatible with LTE/3G Bands in China – TD-LTE, WCDMA & FDD-LTE and dons Bluetooth 4.0, dual band WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, GPS with GLONASS, BeiDou satellite navigation system.

The Meizu MX4 measures 144 x 75.2 x 8.9 mm, weighs 147grams and runs on Flyme OS 4.0 based on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. A 3100mAh battery powers the device.

Pricing and Availability
The Meizu MX4 would be available in White, Grey and Gold colour options as well as 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options. The MX4 is available for Pre-order starting today in China and shipping starts on September 20. For those interested in getting their hands on the device – ¥1799 ($293 / N48,000) for the 16GB version, ¥1999 ($325 / N53,000) and ¥2399 ($390 / N63,000). As it is with most Chinese devices, there is no word on if the device would launch globally.
