Meizu MX5 Pro Plus Specs tipped with 4GB RAM and Exynos 7420 SoC

Early this year, Meizu and MediaTek entered into a form of agreement with the latter said to have invested in the former. This has led to different speculation that Meizu will no longer make smartphones using the Exynos chipset from Samsung, rather it will base its smartphones on Mediatek SoC.

Also, while it has become a norm for Meizu to release a Pro version of their smartphone; we got to see Meizu MX4 Pro following the Meizu MX4 but this year a top official confirmed there won’t be a pro version of the Meizu MX5.

Despite all previous leaks that a MX5 Pro phablet device, the company says it is working on a newer more premium line of smartphones. The Meizu MX5 Pro Plus seems the answer to both issues above; a device bearing that moniker has surfaced.

Asides running Samsung’s latest flagship Exynos chipset, it would also offer the much needed premium line the company seeks because hardware wise it is technically competing with the Samsung Galaxy Note5.

Moving to the specs, the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus would sport a 6-inch Quad HD display, an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor, 4GB of RAM and 27MP rear facing camera. The device is also expected to have a Physical Home Button and the Lock/Power button and the Volume rockers can be found on the right side.

It would be surprising if Meizu throws in a fingerprint scanner which could be incorporated into the home button or just below the camera on the back. Another feature looking to become a trend now is USB Type-C connectivity which would pitch the device against the OnePlus 2.

Despite having a high-end specs and premium metal build, the company is expected to aggressively price the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus at around $391 and the launch date is either Q4 2015 or Q1 2016 with the latter the most likely.

PS: It may likely be a change of name as the above device has the same speculated specs of the MX5 Pro.
