Meizu was one of the most successful smartphone maker of 2014 in terms of sales; the company announced its flagship smartphone the MX4 around September last year. The company’s next flagship which would be the MX4 successor, the Meizu MX5 has surfaced in leaked specs. Even though the device’s is not expected until around September or around Q4 2015 according to sources.
Let’s get down to the Meizu MX5 Rumoured specs: the device is said to sport a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QuadHD or 2K display, the processor would be from Mediatek like it’s predecessor and would have 4GB of RAM.
The device would come with a fingerprint scanner which would either be placed on the front or the back of the device. Considering the fact that if the company decides to stick with its circle capacitive buttons on the front of the device then the fingerprint scanner would be moved to the back of the device.
We have heard whispers of Nokia and Meizu working together on a smartphone. It looks like the Nokia rumours won’t go away soon as the smartphone would allegedly use Nokia 41MP PureView camera. Meizu used 21MP Sony IMX220 sensor on the MX4 and the MX4 Pro, moving to 41MP PureView camera would definitely be a massive jump.
Meizu certainly has a lot of funds to play with as the company received a recent cash injection from Alibaba worth around $500 million dollars. The company is expected to announce an Ubuntu OS powered device which could hopefully make an appearance at the Mobile World Congress in Spain starting March 1st.
A lot could change before September which the Meizu MX5 is expected to make its appearance. Whatever information we get for now would be handled like any other rumours.
