Couple of days after the phablet-sized M3 Note, Meizu has officially announced the successor to the Pro 5 – Meizu Pro 6. Unveiled in Beijing today, the company’s new high-end device has a price tag equivalent to US$386 (CNY 2499) for the 32GB storage version and US$433 (CNY 2999) for the 64GB version. Available colour options are Dark Gray, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold.
The Meizu Pro 6 is heralded as the first Deca-core Smartphone in the market. It is powered by the Mediatek Helio X25 MT6797T SoC with tri-cluster Deca-core CPU clocked at 2.5GHz with ARM Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB of RAM and either 32GB/64GB built-in storage space. Additional storage up to 128GB can be added via the microSD card slot.
The device sports a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED 2.5D display, uses the USB 3.1 Type-C port with transfer speed of 5Gbps and is backed by a 2560mAh battery with mCharge 3.0 that goes from 0% to 100% in about 60 minutes. Running Android 6.0 with Flyme 5.5 UI on top, the Pro 6 also supports LTE Cat.6 networks with VoLTE capabilities, weighs 160 grams and measures 7.25 mm thin.
Taking a cue from iPhones, the company says the Meizu Pro 6 has 48% less plastic in its design and has also managed to replicate Apple’s 3D Force Touch both in appearance and functionality as the 3D press. The device is equipped with the high-end Cirrus Logic CS43L36 chip for quality audio outputs and 55% less power consumption.
For photography, there is a front facing 5MP camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video chats; and a rear facing 21MP camera with dual-tone 10-LED Ring Flash, Laser Auto focus, 6P lenses, f/2.2 aperture and 4K video recording.
